The Madrid Municipal Police has recently used the captive drone Aster-T to monitor an emergency drill exercise carried out in collaboration with other citizen protection forces. The system was flying uninterruptedly during 80 minutes, making it possible to track and control the entire exercise from the air.
The drill, which took place in the month of October in Casa de Campo in Madrid, was carried out with the participation of the Fire Brigade, Civil Protection and SAMUR (emergency units), in addition to the Municipal Police itself, whose agents handled the unmanned system.
During the course of the exercise, the tethered hexacopter remained at a height of between 30 and 60 meters. The drone performs surveillance and tracking tasks thanks to its integrated high-performance camera, which works in visible light and in infrared mode.
The Aster-T it is a tethered drone developed by everis ASD and SCR in collaboration with DroneTools. This system is characterized by the permanent connection between the heaxacopter and a ground battery, which provides the platform with access to a continuous power supply. In addition, communications and video transmissions are made safely by wire.
These characteristics make the Aster-T an ideal system for situations where an uninterrupted and fast coverage is required, such as, for instance, as safety support in big events, for monitoring purposes in emergency situations, for communications during crises, or for surveillance and asset protection.
