Madrid, June 28, 2018 – SCR, an everis Aerospace, Defense and Security (everis ADS) Group Company, has successfully tested its new ground target, the RRS-1, in an exercise programmed and coordinated by the Spanish Air Force’s Air Combat Command (MACOM) at the Bardenas Reales shooting range.
The target was destroyed upon impact from an AGM-65 Maverick air-to-surface missile launched from an F-18 assigned to the “Ala 15” military unit in Zaragoza. The Air Force wanted to try this type of moving targets to include them in their advanced training exercises.
The RRS-1 represents the consolidation of SCR in the ground target market. The new system has been designed to meet defence system operational standards for training, tactical exercises and scoring.
The 4×4 unmanned vehicle developed by SCR can be used in different types of terrain and it features a remote operation radio with a range of up to 10 km and a maximum speed of 65 km per hour. It is also prepared for the installation of a wide range of payloads depending on the type of operation.
The new RRS-1 allows SCR to offer its customers a comprehensive range of solutions covering air, seaborne and ground targets. The company, with more than 24 years of experience in the field of unmanned systems, is internationally recognized for its SCRAB and ALBA air target product families. In the seaborne category, SCR has two target models: SPAYK I and II.
